On Wednesday we were at the Meridian Elementary School for the Meridian Elementary 6th grade graduation party. We have been performing at graduation banquets for Center Township Elementary, McQuistion Elementary and Sewickley Academy for several years and this year Meridian Elementary contacted us to perform at their graduation party.
Meridian’s event is arranged a little differently than those of Center Township & McQuistion Elementary. At Meridian, the kids are given their diplomas & academic awards at a graduation ceremony the day prior to this event and then on this day it’s one big party!
The graduation party was held in the school gymnasium and started at 3:30 pm. The P.T.O., led by Mary Beth Paterno, did a wonderful job transforming the gym into a fun & colorful dance hall. The event lasted for 3 hours and during this time the kids participated in several contests where they had chances to win gift cards from local businesses, such as Wal-Mart, Game Stop, Target, Rita’s Ice & more. The P.T.O. purchased some really unique party props and throughout the event the kids each traded in tickets for these props. There were blow-up guitars, black gangster hats & cool sunglasses, light-up cowboy hats, light-up Uncle Sam hats & sequin newsboy hats.
We would like to thank “Mr. J” and “Coach” for helping out by leading all of the kids in a Conga line. The kids really enjoyed seeing the adults participate in the event. The party wrapped up at 6:30 pm in the evening as parents arrived to take the kids home.
We would like to congratulate the Meridian Elementary 6th grade graduating class of 2009 and wish them the best of luck in Jr. High School next year.
