On Saturday July 4th 2009 we were at Greystone Fields in Gibsonia PA. The event was a wedding reception for Marwan & Dana Maalouf. Dana has been to several wedding receptions where I was the disc jockey. The most recent was a wedding for Andrew & Melissa Brown that was held at Armstrong Farms in Saxonburg, where Dana was a bridesmaid. Dana is originally from the Mars area and currently resides in Owings Mills Maryland with Marwan, who is an assistant coach with the Baltimore Ravens football team.
Dana and Marwan were married at 2:00 pm at St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church in Cranberry Township PA. Guests began arriving to Greystone Fields shortly after 5:00 pm where they enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres which were provided by The Chadwick Catering. Shortly after 6:00 pm Dana, Marwan and the rest of the bridal party arrived in a large “Party Bus”. After the formal introductions, I invited Dana & Marwan to the dance floor where they played The Newlywed Game, which was a HUGE HIT with the guests.
Dinner was also prepared by The Chadwick Catering and guests were offered a choice of filet mignon, chicken, or filet of salmon. At the conclusion of dinner, Dana & Marwan shared in their first dance as husband and wife to “Then” by Brad Paisley. Dana then danced with her father, while Marwan danced with his mother to “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion.
The excitement got in to full swing within moments of opening up the dance floor, as guests danced to tunes such as “Poker Face” by Lady GaGa, “Livin On A Prayer” by Bon Jovi, “Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey and “Let’s Groove” by Earth, Wind & Fire. Throughout the evening, the dance floor was continually packed and the guests had plenty of music requests. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, we had more song requests than we had time to play them; and the event wrapped up shortly after 10:30 pm.
However, the event was not quite over yet. You see, in keeping with 4th of July tradition, Dana and Marwan provided a basket of sparklers for the guests, who lined up on both sides of the sidewalk and formed a “Sparkling Archway” as the newlyweds made their way out of the banquet hall.
We would like to thank Dana & Marwan for allowing us to be a part of their special day, and we wish them the best of luck… except when they are playing the Pittsburgh Steelers!
