On Saturday August 1st 2009 we were in Heritage Hall at the Butler Days Inn Resort & Conference Center. The event was a wedding reception for Mr. & Mrs. Travis and Amanda Marquez. Travis and Amanda were married at 3:30 pm at the Community Alliance Church in Butler PA.
Guests began arriving at the Butler Days Inn at 5:00 pm, where they enjoyed a huge assortment of appetizers, including a nacho bar with a flowing cheese fountain. Imagine a 30 inch high fountain flowing with melted nacho cheese! In addition to the cheese fountain, Travis and Amanda also provided a chocolate fountain with many delicious dipping items.
The bridal party arrived shortly after 6:00 pm. After we formally introduced them into the hall, the best man Jon Ikner and the maid of honor Elizabeth Marcus each gave hilarious but heartfelt toasts.
The culinary staff at the Butler Days Inn prepared a delicious meal that was served buffet style. The menu was specifically chosen by Amanda and Travis and even included Fillet Mignon.
After dinner, Amanda and Travis cut the cake to “You’re My Best Friend “by Queen, prior to playing the newlywed game. Over the past year we have encouraged brides & grooms to include the newlywed game at their wedding reception and I must say that it has been a huge hit with brides & grooms and their guests.
After the newlywed game, Travis & Amanda shared in their first dance together as husband and wife to “I’m Yours“ by Jason Mraz. Amanda then danced with her father Mr. Joe Marquez to the song “Slipping Through My Fingers“ from the Mama Mia Soundtrack and Travis danced with his mother to “A Mothers Song“ by Anthony W. Carter.
Open dancing was shorter than usual since Amanda and Travis had previously arranged for Angel’s Karaoke to perform from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm. So at 9:00 pm we invited all of the guests to share in our last song of the evening to “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It“ by R.E.M.
