On Saturday we were at the University Club located on the campus of Slippery Rock University. The event was a Bat Mitzvah for Gemma Leeds Padchonga. Guests began to arrive at the University Club at 5:00 pm and while the adults enjoyed appetizers, we entertained the kids with a few contests.
At 5:30 pm we started the grand introduction. First, we introduced the proud parents Marcy Leeds & Jessie Padchonga to the song “We Are family” by Sister Sledge. We then introduced the guest of honor Gemma Leeds Padchongs to “3” by Britney Spears.
After the grand introduction, we invited Gemma to the dance floor to host the candle lighting ceremony. Gemma invited 12 groups of family and friends to each light a candle. The candle lighting was followed by the Motzi & Kiddush, which was performed by Cantor Gary Gelender.
Dinner was prepared by the dining services department at SRU and was served buffet style for the kids and sit-down for the adults. As the adults finished their meal, we held another contest for the kids called Four Corners.
At the conclusion of dinner we invited everyone to the main ballroom where several guests offered toasts to Gemma and then everyone sang Happy Birthday to Gemma. Coincidentally, March 20th is also Gemma’s birthday!
Guests then all gathered on the dance floor as everyone danced the Hora and then continued into open dancing. Throughout the remainder of the evening we combined dancing, party prop give-a-ways and contests. At 9:00 pm we invited all of the guests to share in the last dance of the evening to “Last Dance” by Donna Summer.
